Cave Tinella Quarry

Whilst in Puglia, Italy, Claudio Modola took the opportunity to visit Francesco Tinella, owner of the Cave Tinella stone quarries in Locorotondo to view their new range of tactile, white stone products and discuss forthcoming projects. The studio enjoys a long standing relationship with Cave Tinella and has used their stone flooring on a number of its projects in the UAE and Africa previously with great success.

Founded by Francesco’s father, Cave Tinella Quarry began its commercial history 3 decades ago, extracting stone from their first quarry and grinding it down into powder form for extensive use in the production of plasters, mortars and marble. By capitalizing on the knowledge and experience gained in their early years and as a result of Francesco and his brother Giorgio joining the family business, Cave Tinella acquired a second quarry between Fasano and Cisternino , Puglia in the year 2000. From this second quarry they began extracting Jonico fillet blocks, commonly known as ” Marble Gianecchia “. The stone from the Fasano quarry has properties very similar to those of marble and is particularly suitable to be cut into slabs for the production of the immaculate flooring materials particularly favoured by Claudio Modola Design. The company has since expanded its operations further and now in 2016 offers a range stone in various textures and colours suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
